As I think about where I am going in the coming school year, I seem to be hitting a roadblock. I have been thinking about what to organize my instruction around. I really want the kids to have hands-on experiences, use technology and contribute to the community. I just am struggling to find that central theme. I will be going to the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators conference this next week and hope to get some good ideas that will spark the kids interests.
I haven't had the best couple of years in my previous position and really want this new endeavor to be successful. For starters, I think the kids in A.L.E. deserve better than just sitting and doing worksheets. Secondly, it bothers me that I my disappoint the people that look to me for results and are expecting a certain level of success.
I hope that this blog will serve as a place to muse, post many successes and reflect on opportunities.
